free inquiry: Part f (Still Life)

Up to this point in my free inquiry, I have taken pictures of dynamic landscapes and expressive people, but my next challenge was to take pictures of everyday objects and bring them to life.

Still life photography is all about images that are simple, but interesting. Often lighting, leading lines, and rules of thirds will be a photographer’s best friends, but when out and out with only and iPhone, I’d have to utilize all the light I could get my hands on, and that often meant sunlight.

What still life photography benefits from when compared to other styles however, is that the photographer has full control over the shot. In my photos, I looked for soft lighting and warm colours to draw the viewer in and place them in the world of the image.
