EdTech Reflections & Free Inquiry (iPhone Photography)

free inquiry: part h (Night)

For my final free inquiry post, I set out to capture some photos taken at night time. I found out that my phone could use Night mode to capture photos when the camera detects a low-light environment, but I liked a more manual control of the settings so I turned that feature off.

“For the best results, hold your iPhone steady until the capture completes. Try placing your iPhone on a solid and secure surface, or use a tripod to increase stability and control of the exposure clarity”

When I looked up at the sky and saw a full moon, I thought to myself that there was no way my iPhone could take a decent photo it since it was so far away. To my surprise, after sliding the exposure scale all the way to its lowest setting and zooming in, I took the photo and was extremely impressed with the outcome.

If I was going to show someone only one of my iPhone photos from this inquiry so far, I would show them this one of the moon as it shows just how capable that small camera in your pocket can be.

I also played with the iPhone’s Live Photo mode, to creature a looping video of a neon sign I saw. Bright lights against a dark background created some really dynamic photos and I’m super impressed with the quality of images I took even in a low light setting.

If I’ve learned anything from this free inquiry, is that it’s not the quality of the camera that takes great images but the work behind the scenes. Hopefully this journey has inspired others to get out there and capture the world with the camera that they always have on them.
